TMP Bus "E" 13.8kV Upgrades

Engineering for installation and contractor supervision of 13.8 kV switchgear. This included existing GE Switchgear Upgrades from multiple electro-mechanical relays to a single SR-469 Multilin motor management relay, ION for power monitor c/w Modbus and wiring upgrade to the latest Mill standards for each cell and Exciter upgrades for the associated synchronous motors. The local operating stations were integrated to PLC/DeltaV controls.

Steam Turbo Generator Upgrade
43 MVA/40MW, 13.8kV

The electrical project was part of a complete mechanical rebuild due to a steam leakage in the turbine. The results of the upgrade were an increase of 20% efficiency. The turbine uses a 600 lb steam header fed from four boilers. The turbine has 2 extraction stages at 150 lbs and 80 lbs steam that are used for the paper machines. The electrical and instrumentation work for the TG was done in several stages that included: upgrading the switchgear from electro-mechanical to electronic relays, ION power and upgrade wiring to the latest Mill standards. All (15) 600 V motors associated with the TG were upgraded from relays to PLC/DeltaV controls. All pneumatic, discrete and analog controls were converted to PLC/DeltaV for graphic control.

Solar Turbines
2 - 10 MW, 12.47kV

Engineering for installation and procurement of Turbine Gas Generator TG1 (Mars 100) and TG2 (Mars 90). The Turbine Gas Generators operated to co-generate electricity and thermal energy which was used as pre-heated combustion air for a supplementary-fired boiler. The co-generation system delivered about 30% of the paper mill's electricity which was used primarily to drive motors on the process line and produced 90% of the steam needed to dry newsprint from a recycle plant. The mill power system was interconnected to Puget Sound Energy.
